  Site Navigation

The screen is landscape oriented, the printed paper is portrait oriented. The display is designed to be dynamic in the way information is viewed which can't be transferred to paper.

Mousing over an icon or highlighted text will show a panel with related details. So you can read all the information in the document without scrolling or having to click on a new heading. Just point at the item.
NB some information is only visible while the mouse is over the icon, others remain in view until another item is selected (mouse pointed to it).

If there is more information on another document, it will also have an arrow icon () to show that a new document will be loaded.

The ZonePad will make it so that you don't have to point.

Zonepad Basics

This is not just a different key layout, it is designed to be able to quickly identify where to press using the icons on the screen and embossing on the Zonepad.

It's new paradigm which is much more than just key entry.

The layout of the Zonepad is designed in such a way that it is very easy to identify where to press for a given letter or icon button. It does this by using a Zoneguide and icons on the screen and embossing on the zonepad so you can feel where to press.

The keyboard is normally assumed to be letters and the keys are marked as such, the Zonepad can be whatever is needed and is continuously changing so no key characters are marked.

The Zonepad is used for letters, punctuation and control so is used for all keyboard keys and well as the icon keys normally activated but a mouse click.

Textprocess

The Kezipad generates an easier and more efficent way of processing text.

It enables an easier way of navigating round a document or website.

It allows a better way of displaying documents and websites, without scrolling, in a more natural way - a way that should have already been developed but the emphasis on the printed page has drowned it out.

Introduction

The keyboard has been with us for over a century. It's a convenient way of entering letters. When we want to enter options it doesn't work so well, instead we use the mouse/icon which is very versatile, but uses a pointer. The Zonepad uses the advantages of both: the convenience of the keyboard with the versatility of the icons - using 'zonekeys' to select the icons not a mouse.

It's the Zoneguide that identifies where to press for any icon, letter, link or option displayed on the screen. The Zoneguide is what takes the Zonepad from just another key input method to a dynamic input solution.

Instead of being a set of fixed keys with basically fixed actions it becomes a set of zonekeys which can be whatever you want them to be, in the layout you want, to control whatever you want, in the way you want.

The zonekeys are easy to find from the layout and by feel.

It has the advantages of the mouse buttons without the disadvantages of pointing.

Using Zonepad layout for standard text entry

The zonekey position for letters and text control (eg space, new line, line navigation etc) are quickly identified using the Zoneguide and and quickly actioned using the embossing on the Zonepad. (Along the bottom you can use the keys to navigate along the line, to the beginning or end of the line or word, or delete in the same way)

Similarly for general navigation

The icons prompt the action and the Zoneguide makes it easy to feel the key to press.
Zoneguide Icons

The Zoneguide is used to identify where to press.

The zonekey to press is indicated on the Zoneguide.
The full Zoneguide is unnecessary. It takes too much space to display
If you see this icon, it can only be from the middle left of the Zoneguide. Within that section there are 6 zonekeys.
The black mark shows where to press within the section. (top left)
This can be reduced to so that it can be same size as the line of text.

The icon is a minimal, unique indication of where to press on the Zonepad.
Each icon is a separate zonepress
5. Using the Zoneguide for entering Words

This shows the words as a table.
(7 rows with 7 columns)

This shows the same words surrounded by the Zoneguide which helps to identify where to press for the required word.

The embossed Zonepad helps to find it by feel - automatically touchtyping.
Zoneguide - Mouse moves

The Zonepad has two ways of accessing a point on the screen

1. Like the mouse

- Each zonekey moves the pointer in the relative direction from the centre of the Zonepad (or Zoneguide). The further from the centre the bigger the move.

The inner zonekeys are single moves. They are small moves for fine alterations
The outer zonekeys (ie on the perimeter of the square) have greater steps and they autorepeat

2. Zoom Control

- The whole screen (or active area) becomes the Zoneguide layout (with the Zoneguide shown overlaid on the screen) and with each zonepress, the active area becomes the relative position of that zonekey within the Zoneguide.
Zonepage Modifier 'zkeys'

The 'shift' keys that change the actions of the zonepages.

There are 8 modifier or page select 'zkeys' laid out in the form of a compass rose- vertical, horizontal and diagonal. This gives 9 possible zonepages available at any one time (over 450 zonekeys).

The zonepage modifier has its own Zoneguide to identify where to press. Or perhaps just a separate set of icons.

It may be displayed as two icons:
The first is the modifier zonekey (pageselect) the second is the zonepage zonekey:

Or as a single icon to identify the zonepage name : eg     Navigation
